About Us

The MeetingConnection® located in Martinez, CA, is about 25-mile northeast of San Francisco. Sheryl Sookman, CMP, owner and chief strategist of The MeetingConnection® has been involved in the meeting industry for over 30 years. Sheryl launched The MeetingConnection® in 1996 as a specialized placement service for meeting professionals. In addition, Sheryl owned and operated a meeting management company, as well as working as an event strategist for large non-profit organizations such as the American Society on Aging and Kaiser Permanente. The MeetingConnection® is now focused exclusively on providing career coaching and resume design services.

Sheryl has shared her focus on career and employment topics through a Career Forum column she wrote for Meetings Today Magazine and speaking engagements at meeting industry conferences. She has presented to attendees at HSMAIʹs Affordable Meetings, Meeting Professional International’s (MPI) World Education Congress as well as with MPI chapters nationwide. Sheryl has also presented to the Financial and Insurance Conference Planners (FICP) and through webinars for Professional Conference Management Association (PCMA).

As an active member of PCMA, Sheryl served as the Secretary of the Northern California chapter in 2010. She served on the organization’s Corporate Task Force in 2016 and is currently a member of their Responsible Business Practices Task Force. Sheryl was also actively involved with MPI, serving on the Board of Directors of the Northern California Chapter for two years, and Editor of the chapter’s award‑winning newsletter for seven years.

In February 2009, Sheryl published a book called Who's In Charge of Your Career? Creating A Strategy For Success. The book outlines her approach to career planning and provides job seekers with valuable information about creating resumes that will capture a prospective employer's attention.
